Yup. The UK/Britain is a Christian country (a protestant one) and the Queen is both head of the country (albeit symbolically more than politically) and head of the Church of England. The US was founded by athiests and stuff, and is supposedly a secular/mixed faith country by definition.
But the UK hides the remnants of religion in politics, in shame, and avoids making laws based on Christian ideals, because that’s not what politics is for, whereas the US takes great pains to point out religious beliefs of politicians and make laws based on Catholic ideals (even though they’re Evangelists, methinks)

(Probably nothing to do with the above image anymore, sorry lol) Actually a large chunk of people here believe the misconception that America is a “Christian” country and was founded by Christians. Christian leaders and (Republican) politicians say that all the time, even though the majority of “founding fathers” were deist, agnostic, or atheist. They also continually say America was founded because the Pilgrims came here seeking religious freedom, even though many groups came here around the same time for different reasons. And yeah, politicians definitely use religion to their advantage here, and are often heavily influenced by Christian leaders, Catholic and Evangelist alike. Christianity and politics are so irrevocably tangled, at least as far the Republican party is concerned. And it’s frankly alarming, and part of what has caused Christianity to become what it is in America, a huge oppressive political machine. And they say “homosexuals” have an agenda?
It’s why, on a personal note, I don’t feel comfortable labeling myself a Christian anymore, even though I hold a lot of core Christian beliefs. I hate the church and what it’s become here and what it’s come to stand for.

We’ve gone off on a tangent here but I know that stuff too, I just forgot to mention it XD and I agree with your viewpoint - I often say if I was American I’d be an athiest, too, and that the only dickhead athiests (the ones that claim to be better/smarter than ‘those religious people who force their backwards beliefs on people’ whilst insisting that athiesm is better/smarter) I don’t get angry about are the ones in the US - the Church there is Catholic/Evangelist and also pretty broken, the politics and the religion is all messed up, and the way that ignorance and hatred are so intregal to American Christianity…
